Installing your site
Main install and site details
Now if you haven't come straight from the previous chapter load up your site to get the initial CCG Kickstart install page.
Keep the language set to English and click Save and continue.
Now you should be presented with a Database configuration step. Enter the name of the database you created through phpMyAdmin and your MYSQL user's username and password. This would usually be as the root user unless you have set up users in your MYSQL instance.
Now click save and continue.
Drupal will now deal with installing all the modules, themes required.
Once the site has finished installing you will get to the configure site step. Enter the details required and hit save and continue. Make sure you use a strong password for the site maintenance account.
Site features and default content
Once your site details have been saved you will be taken to a step to select the features you want to install. In the case there are certain features you don't need at the point of initially installing your site then simply deselect them. We'd suggest you leave all features selected as this will make the experience easier for you, allowing you to easily edit default placeholder content.
Now click continue and the installer will deal with enabling all the selected features.
In the case you didn't leave all features selected you will be taken to your new site's homepage. If you left all features selected you should reach the create default content step. Simply leave the check box selected and click continue so the placeholder content gets generated. Once this process has completed you will be take to the homepage of your newly installed site. See the next chapter for how to edit the placeholder content.
Troubleshooting and manual tasks
In the case your site doesn't complete installation at the site features and default content steps then the best thing to do is clear your database. You can do this from phpMyAdmin or the MYSQL client you have chosen to use and try the install process again from the start. Once your site is installed you will need to carry out another step to get some parts of the website working correctly. You will need to hover over the Drupal 8 logo in the toolbar and click the Flush all caches link as shown below.
